MILWAUKEE, WI — Earlier Friday morning, the Internet was shocked to receive word that a rare specimen had unnaturally appeared: a trans man.

Reports first came in from technicians at Instagram who claimed a post had been added with the tag #transmasc, which let out a thick black smog at headquarters as dormant gears churned to life.

“I didn’t even know this was possible,” remarked Threads user @AwaySheBlows. “To think there’s the possibility of someone transitioning to become a man instead of a woman? It’s urban legend. A myth.”

They weren’t the only one to share their confusion. In an Instagram comment on his post, @chaser.ibarelyknowher had this to say:

Where’s the appeal? Why change from something beautiful to just some boring man?

We reached out to Damien, the trans man, on his sudden popularity. “Honestly, it just feels good to see people finally recognize that trans men do exist, and I’m proud to be one of them,” he said. “It’s who I am. I’ve even found another trans man like me to talk with because of all of this. Knowing there’s another like me… it’s validating.”

The odds of not one, but two trans men existing at the same time as each other certainly is daunting to think about, but we can finally put the age-old question to rest: trans men do in fact exist.
